OUR COMMUNITY

The Research Alliance for Fire & EMS is a national network of academic researchers, scientists, and faculty whose full-time work includes or may be focused on advancing the safety, health, and well-being of firefighters and EMS providers.

The Science to the Station - Research Alliance unites experts from specialties such as: public health, epidemiology, behavioral science, systems engineering, and related fields who are actively conducting fire and EMS-focused research. These researchers bring scientific rigor and cross-disciplinary insight to the most pressing challenges facing the fire service.

By aligning independent research efforts with frontline needs, the Research Alliance helps ensure that science leads to impact: shaping practice, policy, and outcomes across the profession.

Whether studying cancer risk, responder mental health, organizational systems, or workforce inter-personal dynamics, our members are united by one mission: to generate evidence-based science that makes life on the line safer, healthier, and more sustainable for fire and EMS professionals everywhere.

WHO IT’S FOR

The Research Alliance for Fire & EMS is for full-time academic researchers, scientists, and faculty whose primary role is in research—not fire or EMS operations. Members typically work in public health, behavioral science, epidemiology, systems engineering, or related fields, and are actively conducting research that impacts fire and EMS professionals.

If you're an active or former firefighter or EMS professional pursuing or holding an advanced degree, the Scholars Alliance for Fire & EMS may be a better fit for your experience and perspective.
