Call for Class Proposals
Science to the Station is now accepting class proposals for the 2026 conference, taking place Tuesday, November 3 through Thursday, November 5, 2026, in Kansas City, Missouri.
This conference brings researchers, practitioners, and leaders together to move science out of journals and into the firehouse. We are seeking proposals that are grounded in strong scientific evidence and clearly demonstrate how research can be applied in real-world fire service settings.
Submission Deadline
Class proposals must be submitted by February 6, 2026
Presentation Formats
All submitted proposals will be considered for both presentation formats outlined below.
Putting Science into Practice (PSIP) Sessions
Putting Science into Practice (PSIP) sessions are 45-minute, application-focused sessions that build upon the research introduced in a FRED Talk.
PSIP sessions include:
30-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A
Two required presenters:
One from the scientific or research community
One from the fire service
A focus on how science has been:
Applied in real-world settings
Used to inform policy or decision-making
Integrated into training, operations, or culture
Selected PSIP sessions will be delivered twice during the conference.
FRED Talks
FRED Talks are 12-minute presentations that focus on the research and scientific foundation of a topic.
FRED Talk sessions:
One presenter per session
Typically the researcher or subject-matter expert
Designed to explain the science and why it matters
